How to convert FX3 Handle to an XLR-K3M (and why you should!)

Today we are going to convert a FX3 top handle audio module into a more compact unit that is compatible with multiple sony cameras. THE PART Sony ‘Hot Shoe Foot’ Part: Name: Sub Assy Shoe (9492) Service Part #: A5010865A I ordered it through my local camera store (Thanks Chris @ Camera House Helensvale!) but you can definitely find it online. It cost me $170 AUD TOOLS REQUIRED PH00 for all screws except below PH2 for screws around XLR ports Forceps / Pliers for removing ribbon cables WHY? Make use of the ‘good bits’ of a broken FX3 Top Handle (common FX3 issue) Ability to use the audio module on multiple devices(A7S-III, A1, A9-II, A7R-IV, A7C, ZV-E10) More compact (smaller rigs, will fit smallrig full cage too unlike factory handle) Also now compatible with MI Shoe Extension (i don’t have one though!)
