Nickelback How You Remind Me Live Acoustic Performance | The White Envelope Event
The inaugural White Envelope Event (Aug 2018), hosted by the Obakki Foundation, raised more than $450,000 to provide urgently needed water, food, medical support, education and more to the 300,000 people who live in Uganda’s Bidi Bidi resettlement area (the largest in the world), where women and children make up 80% of the population.
Nigerian artist, Laolu Senbanjo of Beyoncé’s “Sorry“ music video performed a live art installation, using skin as his canvas. He painted hip hop artist and advocate Emmanuel Jal, who later had everyone in tears with his spoken word.
The evening featured a backyard acoustic concert under the stars with performances from Nickelback, Dallas Green of City and Colour, Scott Helman, Dan Mangan and Barney Bentall. Michael Bublé accompanied his soon-to-be superstar niece Jayde, who left the entire crowd speechless with her rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
The Obakki Foundation is honoured and inspired to make this the first of many fundraisers and eager to share the stories of impact in Bidi Bidi .
Our approach to philanthropy is simple - we believe in people.
