The 6th Mass Extinction Is Happening Now

The carbon and fossil fuel emissions on Earth are causing global warming and other catastrophes like oceans without oxygen, wildfires, rising sea levels, glaciers and arctic ice sheets melting, Antarctic Circumpolar Current slowing down and heating of Antarctic bottom waters, greenhouse gases, and more. We are currently in the planet’s sixth mass extinction. Species are dying at exponential rates, far exceeding normal background extinction rates, and speciation isn’t happening as it should be. This mass extinction happening now isn’t due to volcanoes, world-ending meteors, acidic oceans or wildfires (although wild fires have been accelerating rapidly in the last decade, especially in places like Canada, California, Brazil, Argentina, and Southern Europe). Our accelerated climate change is due to manmade, fossil fuel emissions, namely CO2 and methane. This global extinction isn’t happening later, it’s happening now. Humanity needs to prepare now for our long-term survival. Ea
