The Legend of King Arthur - Tintagel, Cornwall

We’ve come to Cornwall – one of the heartlands of Celtic culture. That means in geological history we’ve reached the Carboniferous, rock formations that are over 300 million years old. In human history we’ve reached something else: Tintagel. Tintagel Headland to be more precise – a small island, less than a stone’s throw away from the Cornish mainland, connected by a tiny foot bridge. On both sides of that bridge Tintagel castle, and right below it Tintagel cave (“Merlin’s cave”) – where two times every day the tide flows in, and out again. Home of King Arthur, centre of medieval legends (also Tristan and Iseult!).
