Chess Openings: Learn NOT to Play the Coca-Cola Gambit!
Chess Openings: Learn NOT to Play the Coca-Cola Gambit!
Most of us can all agree that Coca-Cola is a good beverage. It’s arguably the best soda in the world, is consistent, and popular in most countries. I know very few people who don’t enjoy having a Coke. However, the Coca-Cola chess gambit might be the worst chess opening I have ever seen in my life. It starts of with 1. g4, which is considered the Grob Attack, easily the worst chess move possible. Black then responds with 1. ... g5 which is the worst possible again! And finally, white plays 2. f4 which is the worst move possible! This chess opening is so terrible it almost doesn’t deserve a name! Usually when you gambit a pawn, you are giving up material for an attacking edge. However, here white gives up a pawn so that the game could be lost quickly! Enjoy drinking a Coca-Cola, and enjoy never playing this bad chess opening!
