Grin, The Shadow Monster (Time-Lapse Drawing in ProCreate + Original Music)

This is my ProCreate time-lapse video drawing my original character Grin, and, as this type of posts always imply, here are 3 FUN FACTS for our popular rubric #GloomyVerseDetectiveSpecial FUN FACT 1️⃣ Grin’s origin story is actually based on real life events. At the age of 16 I had yet another sleep paralysis episode, which I’ve been experiencing since I was just 9 years old. This one was special though, because for the very first time I saw a dark shadowy figure standing in the doorway leading into my room looking straight at me. And we did in fact have mirrors facing one another and creating an infinite tunnel in our hallway like the ones from the story and the illustration I created. There is a common belief that such infinite tunnels can become portals for creatures from other dimensions. What do you think? FUN FACT 2️⃣ One of my friends mentioned “Smells like teen spirit” in one of the comments and I thought it was brilliant that Grin was perceived that way, because I did in fact intend for him to be the most “teen” of the “spirits”. I first saw him when I was a teen myself and some of that teenage angst is a big part of his personality in these stories. I would’ve said that he is going through somewhat of an emo phase, but we all know here that emo is not a phase… so yeah 😅 FUN FACT 3️⃣ Grin’s bio on Instagram reads “Despite of what you may have heard about me, I Am the Original” referring to him being the first of the monsters that I got to meet personally. Even though, in the timeline of the GloomyVerse™ Gossamer was the first to appear. This also means that Grin was the first monster to appear on my album covers, as early as my very first demo single “Scared” where shadow monsters scared a kid from the darkness of a doorway and room corners.
