The capital of Senegal is sinking! The streets have turned into rivers in Dakar!

Severe weather continues to affect Africa. This Wednesday, heavy rains hit the capital of Senegal - the city of Dakar. The downpour continued for over 2 hours. During this period, about 130 mm of precipitation fell per square meter. The rains led to flooding in several areas of the city. This is especially true for Medina, Keur Massar, Rufisque, Camberene, Parcelles Assainies, Ouest-Foire. Houses, buildings and shops were flooded. The streets became impassable due to the flow of water and debris floating on it. People were looking for safe places. The amount of damage is still being specified, but numerous damages to roads and storm sewers are already known. Dakar is the capital, major seaport and largest city of Senegal. It is located on the Cape Verde peninsula, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Dakar is the westernmost city in Africa. The population of Dakar and its suburbs is about 4 million people.
