Chechnya - Russian prisoners of war

T/I 10:49:49 As Chechnya prepares for a presidential election on Monday (27/01), many people continue to suffer in the republic. Almost forgotten are the hundreds of Russian prisoners of war. But small numbers of Russians are still being held by groups and individuals all over Chechnya. Many Russian parents are combing Chechnya for their lost sons. The Russian parents hope that Chechen military leader Aslan Maskhadov, a moderate, will win the election. They fear a win by rebel leader Shamil Basayev
