Why you should play a Bugbear - RPG Art D&d Character Art Bugbears have some great features for RP as well as for playing as an NPC or PC. First of they are Big, they still count as medium creatures but they are larger than most other humanoids which is awesome for low level encounters. They are stealthy and stalk their prey with hit and run tactics and when they do fight they hit really hard! At their base level they are only CR level 2 creatures which makes them great for low level encounters and for that you get a lot of bang for your buck. I love throwing these guys in as either bosses for small Goblin raiding partys or Low encounters to spring on sleeping characters. Just when a new party of adventurers are feeling really tough from taking out a small band of uncoordinated goblins. The trap is sprung and out from the shadows a large 7ft tall figure rushes out and slams into your back line.
