Panic spread online as it became the top-trending discussion on the domestic social platform Weibo, with 290 million views by 13:50 local time (5:50GMT). At the same time, many users called for the attacker to be given the death sentence. The incident follows a kindergarten stabbing attack last August in which three were killed, six more injured, and another in which two children were killed and 16 more injured in 2021.
