My North Pole, Alaska - Small Log Cabin Project - Part 1

Welcome to my spring cabin project! This 385 square-foot log cabin is located near the town of North Pole, Alaska. It is close to the river, on the edge of a beautiful old slough and is frequented by moose, ducks, fox, a family of squirrels, and the occasional lynx. The cabin will be built out of 8-Inch White Spruce logs. The logs were cut a few miles from site, and then milled by a local sawmill. Once milled, they were kiln dried to lower the moisture content. I have designed the cabin myself and will perform 100% of the construction. It will be connected to local electrical power, but I will install a back-up generator, drill an independent water well and dig an on-site septic system.
