Tunisia: Country heads to polls as opposition urges election boycott

Tunisians headed to the polls on Saturday in a vote that observers warned could rubber-stamp President Kais Saied’s grip on power, and one that could lead to a male-dominated parliament. Just 122 female candidates, compared with 933 men, have reportedly been approved to run, the electoral commission says. The country’s major opposition parties, including Ennahda, have called for a boycott of the elections.
