Calliope Mori - MERA MERA (Metal Remix)

The second single from the Shinigami Note EP, and hoo boy this one’s a doozy. It probably has the best beat of any of Calli’s song in a long time. I think I read somewhere that Giga had used some Indian folk music for influence, and it does show with the catchy-as-hell main melody. Calli herself also killed it, though with how much of a banger streak she’s been on lately that’s to be expected. I wanted to make this remix in the style of Lamb of God, not only because their tight grooves are perfect for the song’s beat, but because they frequently play in the same modes/scales as the melodies here. Oh, and for those wondering where I got those death growls from: it was from Calli’s debut anniversary stream from way back in September.
