Angela’s advanced pole dance at Atlantic Pole Championships 2021, “I competed this routine April 2021 - It was *supposed* to be in April 2020. Competing in Heels was new choice. Actually I was adverse to them for some time. And I’ve never had to work harder to complete a routine - many movements just imaginations for a long time. I suppose I had a lot of time to get it together - and this was a year for new things. I view competitions as a way to cultivate my masculine energies - And to stretch myself further than before. To strive for excellence - whatever that may be. And there’s certainly nothing like smiling at, and receiving applause from a live, in-person audience on a stage. Showing teeth in a smile - as I write this - is a rarity in this day. The things I took for granted. Although it wasn’t perfect - it never is. A silver medal to boot ain’t so bad. The last year demanded humility, reverence and uncovered a new sense of fragility & vulnerability in my work, and in so many things I love and hold dear - Rather, 2021 is a year for irreverence. Noise, putting my feet down and shaking out all I got - because I still can - Because when I was in Jr. High I wanted to be the third in the band. Jack & Meg are just the coolest. Look at what they made with what they had. And because movement and dance is still the grace that carries me through - That moving my body will bring me the clarity and comfort I seek, and the evolution I need. But my favorite parts of these experiences are always where I can share this with others - Moxy gals Natalyn & Lissy rocked their stages! Together we were a team, and through this process I can see their (and mine) demeanors reveal a special radiance of further confidence and grace. I adore my beautiful studio and pole community.
