1953 HITS ARCHIVE: Terry’s Theme from “Limelight” - Frank Chacksfield (his original version)
Terry’s Theme from “Limelight” (Chaplin) by Frank Chacksfield & his Orchestra
Charlie Chaplin’s bittersweet 1952 film “Limelight” featured an award-winning musical score composed, in part, by Chaplin himself. The melody associated with the Claire Bloom character Thereza became known as “Terry’s Theme,” and it was this top-10 orchestral instrumental by British conductor Frank Chacksfield that was most frequently heard during the summer of ’53. A popular vocal treatment titled “Eternally” was recorded by Vic Damone and is also included in this collection, as is Chacksfield’s famous follow-up release “Ebb Tide.”
