France: Police break up rally in Nantes against newly-introduced COVID restrictions

Subscribe to our channel! Riot police filled the streets of Nantes with tear gas as thousands of protesters marched against the sanitary pass on Saturday. The protest follows a series of similar demonstrations throughout France against mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for health workers and a tightening of restrictions for the unvaccinated. Protesters could be seen marching through clouds of tear gas and confronting heavily armoured police. Some 4,000 demonstrators reportedly took part in the march. On July 13, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a bill making vaccination compulsory for some workers including health professionals. While not mandatory for the general public, the use of the sanitary pass - either proof of vaccination or a negative test - would be extended, and PCR tests would no longer be free as they had been.
