Wenrohronon is an Iroquoian language and is related to the Susquehannock, Wyandot, Erie and Scahentoarrhonon languages. The Wenrohronon People were conquered by the Confederation of the Five Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy,in two decisive wars between 1638-1639 and 1643. This was part of the Iroquois Confederacy’s campaign against the Neutral People, another Iroquoian-speaking tribe, who lived across the Niagara River. The warfare was part of what was known as, the “Beaver Wars“, as the Iroquois worked to dominate the lucrative fur trade. They used winter attacks, which were not usual among Indigenous Peoples and their campaigns resulted in attrition of both the larger Iroquoian Confederacies, as it had, against the numerous Huron. ----------------------------------------------- I claim no ownership of any of the clips, video and music expressed in this employ my borrowing of them with much respect and thanks.
