In the fourth leopard attack in Goregaon’s Aarey Colony in suburban Mumbai, a woman resident was injured two days after the animal’s failed attempt at carrying off a child. The incident occurred on Wednesday at Visava, close to the Aarey dairy. A CCTV footage shows the leopard lying in wait outside a house. A woman with a walking stick is seen coming out of the house and sitting down on the verandah. As soon as she sat down, she was attacked by the leopard. The woman used her walking stick to ward off the leopard but suffered scratch marks on her face, chest and back. She has been identified as Nirmala Rambadan Singh, aged 55 years. Gajanan Hire, in charge of the Thane Forest Division which oversees Aarey Colony, said that the claw marks clearly indicate that the attack was carried out by a sub-adult leopard.
