Meeting between Kim Jong Un, Putin spurs fears of possible Russia/North Korea arms deal

In his first international trip since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, North Korea’s leader has arrived in Russia as President Vladimir Putin is set to hold a highly anticipated defence summit with Kim Jong Un. While some see it as a sign that the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine is stalling, it could be coming at a larger cost. Intelligence officials note North Korea could provide a supply of weapons for the Kremlin, which has seen its invasion of Ukraine turn into a war of attrition. Western powers have warned both parties against an arms deal, which would break UN sanctions — including ones Russia has supported. Kyle Benning explains.
