Iran hosts Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks

아르메니아-아제르바이잔 평화협상 On Monday, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met in Iran for talks to resolve the conflict over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh. Since Azerbaijan’s large-scale military offensive on September 19th into Nagorno-Karabakh, over 100,000 ethnic Armenian inhabitants have fled from their homes. The two countries’ foreign ministers were joined at the Tehran summit by officials from Russia, Turkey and Iran. A joint declaration was signed denouncing Western influences in the region, as well as agreeing to work toward peace in Nagorno-Karabakh. Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister commented in an interview that “the conflict has been mostly settled, and that both sides agreed that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan“.
