U.S. criticizes Russia’s ’significant step in wrong direction’ on revoking nuclear ban

美 “러시아의 핵실험금지조약 비준철회 깊이 우려“ The U.S. has criticized Russia for taking a “significant step in the wrong direction“ by revoking its nuclear test ban and called on Moscow to commit not to test nuclear weapons. The remarks came in a statement on Thursday by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken who expressed concerns over Russia leaving the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty for raising tensions and nuclear risks amid its war in Ukraine. He addressed Russian officials who said the move does not mean resuming nuclear testing and urged Moscow to “hold to those statements.“ The remarks come as Russian President Vladimir Putin signed off on a law to revoke the ratification of the global treaty which Moscow claims is to “mirror“ the U.S --which has signed, but not ratified the treaty. Moscow has said it would not conduct any tests until Washington does. #Comprehensive_Nuclear_Test_Ban_Treaty #Russia #nuclear_test_ban #security #nuclearweapons #Antony_Blinken #CTBT #Vladimir_Putin #러시아 #핵실험금지조약_비준철회 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2023-11-03, 09:00 (KST)
