Escape from New York 1981 Synopsis

“Escape from New York“ is a dystopian science fiction action film released in 1981, directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell as the protagonist, Snake Plissken. The movie is set in a future America, where crime rates have escalated to unprecedented levels, leading the government to transform Manhattan Island into a maximum-security prison. The film opens in 1997 (then-future) when Air Force One is hijacked by domestic terrorists and crash-lands inside the heavily fortified prison of New York City.
