Just now! A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shakes Guatemala and El Salvador!

On Friday at 11:52 pm, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck southern Guatemala. The epicenter was located at a depth of 108 km, 7 km from the city of Taxisco, 80 km south of the country’s capital. Strong tremors were felt in neighboring El Salvador. Some people, frightened by the tremors, came out of their houses into the streets. A partial collapse of the facade of a church in San Pablo Jocopilas was reported. There are no reports of casualties or serious damage yet. It could be several hours before authorities can conduct comprehensive observations. Aftershocks are possible in the coming days.
