Basic Blues - 2 String Canjo

This was built for the music-loving guy who ran our favourite cafe, which sadly closed down, as a thank you for the awesome Batman coffee table from the premises that the Wildays of Worthing have now inherited. :) This Canjo made from a coffee tin (which seemed appropriate) is tuned to D and G like the middle 2 strings of a conventional guitar, using friction pegs. The video sound will not do it justice, but the instrument actually has a great chiming resonance, and these clips will hopefully give some idea as to the type of music that can be created with such a seemingly crude device. Because D is the 5th note relative to the root of G, the 2 strings played together (always with a slide* - as the instrument is fretless) will give a perfect chord that works equally well as a major or minor accompaniment.
