MERCURY LIVING PRESENCE VINYL SERIES – ORDER HERE To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Mercury Living Presence, Decca Classics is releasing a new series of limited edition, half-speed mastered vinyl titles. The first batch of titles includes Mercury’s first classical recording: Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, with Rafael Kubelík conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra — the release which led Howard Taubman, chief music critic of The New York Times to write, “One feels one is listening to the living presence of the orchestra”. For this new series, the original first-generation master tapes were sourced and new HD transfers made at Abbey Road Studios. New 3-to-2 mixes for stereo titles were produced by Thomas Fine, son of the original producer and recording engineer for the majority of Mercury Living Presence titles. This master audio was then cut to lacquer by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, using his unique, super high-fidelity half-speed lathe. Mas
