The most cinematic episode which contained in itself and cake with sleeping pills, and the firing of a gun, occurred on the night of may 20, 1989, when the Soviet captain and model military 1st class pilot Alexander Zuyev, who served in the 176-th IAP based in Senaki in Georgia, stole a MiG-29A to Turkey from the Soviet Empire. Alexander Zuev originally flew on the third-generation fighter MiG-23M. He had excellent skills and cope with the flying. MiG-23M is not the most easy-to-manage machine. He was one of the first pilots of the regiment who began to learn the newest frontline fighter of fourth generation MiG-29A and all this at the age of 27 years and on top of this he married the daughter of the chief of staff of the air division.   The day before his defection, he baked a large cake, having mixed a large amount of sleeping pills in the batter.
