Wino - Punctuated Equilibrium (2009) (Full Album)

Scott Wino Weinrich holds legendary status in the world of metal, as the former leader of classic doom bands the Obsessed, St. Vitus, Spirit Caravan, and most recently, the blistering trio Hidden Hand. He has a quavering, Ozzy-esque voice, can shred like nobodys business, and possesses an arsenal of effects pedals. Punctuated Equilibrium delivers the doom Wino is famous for, but with a few twists. Many songs are played at fast tempos with bluesy guitar riffs and a powerful groove. Eyes Of The Flesh, on the other hand, is slow and crushing. It moves along at a glacial pace with distorted guitars and textbook doom style. Secret Realm Devotion is a psychedelic song straight from the Freedom Rock collection. Several instrumental tracks keep the doom/stoner/psychedelic vibe going, but showcase the bands musical prowess. Winos voice is rough and bluesy, and the use of effects on a few of the songs changes things up and gives it a different vibe. Punctuated Equilibrium is top-notch doom/stoner metal, and Wino shouldnt have waited so long to make a solo album! 1. Release Me - 0:00 2. Punctuated Equilibrium - 5:53 3.
