LIVE | Boeing Starliner Returns From Space Without Astronauts Sunita Williams & Butch Wilmore

Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft returns to Earth without astronauts aboard. The capsule undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on September 6, 2024, after spending nearly three months in orbit. This mission was originally intended to be a crewed test flight but was modified due to technical issues that arose during its time at the ISS. The Starliner began its journey home shortly after 6 p.m. ET, embarking on a six-hour flight back to Earth. NASA made the decision to return the capsule uncrewed after encountering problems with its thrusters and a helium leak in its propulsion system. As a result, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore will remain on the ISS for an extended stay, with plans to return to Earth aboard a SpaceX vehicle in February 2025.
