USA is buried in snow! Snowdrifts up to 5 meters high in California

In the US state of California, a record amount of snow fell. In the area near Lake Tahoe, four and a half meters of snow fell. Scientists from the University of California note that December was the snowiest month on record. Almost the same figures were last recorded in 1970. Due to bad weather, numerous traffic jams appeared on the roads, electricity was partially cut off, flights were canceled or delayed. The authorities ordered residents to refrain from long trips. Scientists predict that after a year of historic drought and wildfires, California will be cooler and wetter in 2022. The observed increase in extreme weather events due to climate change is only the first step towards ending a debilitating drought that is now in its third year.
