3D Log Spiral Captured Lightning sculpture (Lichtenberg Figures)
A two-layer 3D Captured Lightning sculpture created by Stoneridge Engineering using a 5 Million Volt particle accelerator. Precision lead masks were used to selectively irradiate this 8“ x 8“ x 1.5“ specimen of Plexiglas on two sides. This required passing the specimen through the electron beam in two passes. The unmasked regions were injected with trillions of excess electrons, similar to the way clouds build up a charge during a storm.
