Storm Antonia and Franklin shake Europe! Germany on its knees!

Much of northwestern Europe is counting the cost of Hurricane Eunice on Sunday, after it struck the continent from the British Isles, leaving death and destruction and massive power outages in its wake. On Saturday evening, Younis was blamed for 16 deaths: four in the Netherlands, four in Poland, three in England, two in Germany, two in Belgium and one in Ireland. Many of them were caused by trees falling on vehicles. After developing over Ireland, the storm passed over parts of the United Kingdom on Friday, then over northern France and the Benelux countries before continuing on to Denmark and Germany. The storm hit much of northern Germany where a red alert was issued, which was later lifted. More than 1,000 kilometers of railway tracks were damaged, mostly due to fallen trees, according to a Deutsche Bahn spokesman.
