Good Morning at Sunflower Farm!

Happy Mother’s day and Nurse Appreciation Week (Boy do we appreciate you!) The moment right after chores are done, and all the goats are fed and milked, and most of the world is sleeping, and everything is happy and still is my favorite time of day! Thought today I would share it with you! The oldest kids are now big enough to sleep on their own. It is quiet until they hear me enter the barn and then I have to work fast because everyone yells until they are all together again for the day! I love watching the mamas and babies get reunited after a night apart and morning milking. The mamas will not let another goat’s kids nurse and somehow even in all the chaos can easily find their own babies. And they are so patient and sometimes 4 kids scramble to get their share. I offer back some milk to the kids each morning in case anyone in a larger family is getting short-changed! Usually, there are a couple takers. You can watch the first 41 kids and their 15 mothers in their stalls on our live cam! The older kids are out hopping in the pasture with the herd and another batch of babies will take their place in the kidding stalls! 7 more mamas left to kid!
