Charles Cohen - Music For Dance And Theater (1988)

CHARLES COHEN: MUSIC FOR DANCE AND THEATER These pieces are from various projects. I usually do my best work when someone else lays out some structure: a movement, a scene, a mood, or some kind of dynamic. My main instrument is a Buchia 200 Series. This system has lots of manual and control coltage functions and touch-sensitive capacitive plates rather than an organ-type keyboard. Also used variously are: Electro Comp 101, Anderton Matrix Drums, Putney VCS3, The Muse, Loland Drumatix, Casio CZ101, Mirage, and assorted processors and home-made devices. Improvisation is at the core of my work, both in sound programming and music execution, in the studio or live. Some selections here have technical flaws, but i am attaching greaterimportance to ’feel’ than ’polish’ and have included things which successfully convay the intended mood, even out of their original contexts. SIDE A: Landing on the Blue Plane (1976) was a dance/music/poetry performance piece by Group Motion Dance Theater.
