Union Pacific Railfanning on the Yuma Sub in 2022

On separate occasions in 2022, I spent time catching trains on Union Pacific’s Yuma Subdivision. The Subdivision runs between West Colton, CA, and Yuma, AZ on the famed Sunset Route, offering many different and unique locations throughout the Sonoran Desert. Most of my time was spent along the Salton Sea, Beaumont Hill, and San Timoteo Canyon in blistering 100-plus-degree heat and more mild late fall temperatures.
