The Vampire Kings of New Orleans - Shadows of Remembrance (Cajun Viking Records)
Based on some very old lyrics I wrote many, many years ago about a man slowly losing his memories (and his life) to Alzheimer’s. Dedicated to my stepdad, who was the only father I knew. He was a great singer/pianist/songwriter. Sadly, we watched him fade away, because of this horrible disease. I miss him every day. Love you, Dad.

Lyrics
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Lying here in dark silence
Mind as blank as the wall
What it is, I can’t remember
What it is, I can’t recall
[Pre-Chorus]
Looking at old photographs
Faded prints of yesterday
Strangers now, looking back at me
With nothing left to say
[Chorus]
Frustration’s all I feel
A nightmare, becoming real
Did I have a life before?
Or do I have a life anymore?
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 3]
Old friends come to say hello
Strangers with the kindest hearts
I try so hard to speak their names
Feels like we are worlds apart
[Chorus]
Frustration’s all I feel
A nightmare, becoming real
Did I have a life before?
Or do I have a life anymore?
[End]
