SHORT: WWII SOE Self-Soldering Sleeves

In this very special episode, we examine a fascinating object kindly sent to me by viewer Timothy Zotara: a box of No.3 Self-Soldering Jointing Sleeves. Developed for use by Special Operation Executive (SOE), Britain’ WWII sabotage and subversion organization, these were designed to connect firing wires to explosive detonators, using a pyrotechnic charge to melt the integrated solder. Footage of suafur-iron reaction from NileRed’s video: Blasting Machines video: SOURCES: Dear, Ian, Sabotage and Subversion: the SOE and OSS at War, Cassell Military Paperbacks, London, 1996 Ladd, James, Clandestine Warfare: Weapons and Equipment of the SOE and OSS, Sterling Publishing Company, 1988 Technical Files/
