Process of Making Rudra Veena
The Rudra Veena, which is known to be dear to Lord Shiva, is one of the very first stringed instruments in the history of Indian classical music. Though it has a great history to look back at, the Rudra Veena is now an endangered instrument with only a handful of practitioners and manufacturers. The Rudra Veena is made from materials that are hardly found in the market and so they have to be carved out by skilled craftsmen, who know the subtle techniques of making it. Kaahon is exploring how the rare instrument is made and getting an impression on the soft and deep tone of the almost extinct Rudra Veena.
