I had the pleasure of filming the ex Troy Bayliss MotoGP Ducati Desmosedici GP4 (2004) start-up, revvings & exhaust sound during a motorsport revival event. It doesn’t happen every day! In the video, you can see the procedure that distinguishes racing motorcycles. Since they are not equipped with a starter, they need an external motor with a small tire which allows movement when in contact with the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The rotation of the same, first keeping the clutch engaged and then engaging the gear, allows creating the compression necessary to the engine for a start. Troy Bayliss competed in the 2004 MotoGP season with the Desmosedici GP4. The most visible differences, at least externally, are the air intakes on the hull and on the pigtail of which the GP3 did not have. The 989cc, 4-cylinder engine with Desmodromic distribution develops over 230 hp at 16,500 rpm.
