Is Facebook Deleting Palestinian Content? This Ex-Facebook Executive Thinks So
Is Facebook censoring certain posts and hashtags about #Palestine, like videos taken in the aftermath of the raid on #AlAqsa? Former executive Ashraf Zeitoon thinks so — and that the Israeli government has been pushing the company to do it.
Facebook blamed “technical issues” in their content management system. However, Zeitoon, who helped Facebook design the policies used to moderate content in the Middle East, says that the company’s team “is capable” enough to distinguish between posts about the Al-Aqsa Mosque and posts about the armed group known as “the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades.”
*In 2016, YouTube, #Facebook and Google deleted 95% of the content Israel requested they remove from platforms.*
