Burning down to ashes If there is glow on the horizon, and the sunset hour is long past, it means the Solntsepyok is operating. The TOS-1A Solntsepyok, one of the most deadly multiple rocket launchers, is in service with the Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Russian Armed Forces. It is designed to disable light-armoured vehicles, burn down and destroy buildings and structures, neutralise enemy manpower located in the open and in fortifications. There are three men in the crew. It carries 24 charges. The targets can be engaged with a single rocket or salvo. The Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system eliminates targets with thermobaric rockets. A warhead contains explosive mixture. Once hit the target, the projectile delivers it in the form of an aerosol, then the detonator triggers. The aerosol ignites and burns everything down. Then there comes a void, a vacuum.
