Thranduil was the father of Legolas and the king of the Elves of Mirkwood. Most of us know him from the events of the Hobbit such as his imprisonment of Thorin and company and his participation in the Battle of the Five Armies, however his history goes all the way back to the First Age when he lived with his father in the realm of Doriath and he witnessed and took part in some of the most iconic events of Middle-Earth such as the Last Alliance of Elves and Men when the Free People took up arms to challenge Sauron.
