MIQUEL [Pronounced Michael] BROWN was born Feb 8, 1949, in Montreal, Canada, and was raised in Vancouver. By 1963 she became a young mother of twins at the tender age of 14 only, one of the them later becoming a successful artist in her own right, SINITTA. After touring in the American version of Hair and befriending a young singer AMII STEWART along the way, she arrived in London in 1973. A 1977 single First Time Around for PYE Records flopped, but she signed with Polydor the year after for this gorgeous disco album, written and produced by Alan Hawkshaw. It peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Disco Charts. The same year Miquel demoed a disco version of a well-known 60s soul classic called Knock On Wood, but seeing the producer had a deal with Hansa and Miquel was signed to Polydor, she suggested her friend Amii, saying that as a bonus Amii knew how to dance.
