This is South African Soprano, Nombulelo Yende

Shoutout to South African soprano Nombulelo Yende! She’s a star on the rise from a generation of young opera singers to come out of South Africa. Here she’s singing an aria from the Polish opera “Halka“ at the 11th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, where she earned Female voice: First Prize! As a University of Cape Town (UCT) Opera School postgraduate student Nombulelo Yende took top honors at the 2018 International Competition of Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini in France— an annual international voice competition, which attracts opera students from the world’s most prestigious schools, and a competition which was also won in 2010 by her big sister Pretty Yende, who has since risen to international stardom, performing in some of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Nombulelo is creating her own lane with her own voice, and it’s exciting to see what she’ll do next!
