‘Queers for Palestine’ receive a ‘reality check’ following social media post
Sky News host James Macpherson reacts to the Australian ambassador to Iran getting a dressing down over an Instagram post supporting the LGBTIQ community.
Ian McConville was summoned to the foreign ministry office in Tehran, Iran’s capital, after sharing a post on the embassy’s official Instagram account celebrating “Wear It Purple Day”.
“Queers for Palestine got a little reality check today,” Mr Macpherson said.
“You see, homosexuality is illegal in the Islamic Republic of Iran. And by illegal, I mean, the Islamists will hang you by the neck for it.
“Wear it Purple Day is an annual LGBTQIA awareness day to celebrate and promote all things queer.
“Who knew that was a thing in Iran? I suppose you have to trust our diplomats to know their audience.”
