Jay Smith är en americana- och countryinspirerad artist som debuterar i Melodifestivalen med “Back to My Roots“. Han har skrivit bidraget tillsammans med bland andra sin halvsyster Maria Jane Smith och Victor Thell, det vill säga den framgångsrika duon Smith & Thell. Efter att ha vunnit Idol 2010 släppte han debutalbumet Jay Smith, som inkluderade hans hyllade tolkning av “Like A Prayer”. Därefter har han fortsatt att släppa musik, bland annat singeln “God Damn You“, som i dag har över fem miljoner strömningar. 2019 kom hans senaste album, Young Guns, som färgats av hans passion för amerikansk country.
