HI-LO - OPEN YOUR MIND [DRUMCODE]

One of my biggest HI-LO bangers ‘OPEN YOUR MIND’ just dropped on #DrumcodeRecords alongside the haunting ‘CRESCENDO’! Enjoy! 😎🙌❤‍🔥 Listen now: CRESCENDO When I embarked on creating “CRESCENDO,“ my primary aim was to craft something hypnotic, dark, and trippy, while maintaining a melodic and groovy essence, yet delivering a surge of drive and power. I was thrilled when I came up with that haunting twisted synth progression, cause I knew I had stumbled upon something truly special. Developing it into the pulsating peak-time techno “crescendo“ that it is today was an immensely enjoyable process. Personally, “CRESCENDO“ is one of those tracks that I can play on an endless loop without ever getting tired of it. From its raw inception, I was certain that Drumcode would be the perfect home for this track. I am grateful that Adam Beyer shared the same sentiment, and it has been exhilarating to witness the overwhelming response to the track in my HI-LO sets, as well as during Adam’s performances at renowned events like Timewarp Germany and Brazil, amongst other events. OPEN YOUR MIND Drawing some inspiration from the classic DK8 ‘Murder Was The Bass’, the idea with ‘OPEN YOUR MIND’ was to have a bouncy catchy funky riff/groove with a raw, gritty, heavily distorted electro sound/synth, with heavy drums and breakbeats. Blending elements from Techno and Electro(clash)/Breakbeat, I tried to create a unique and captivating sonic experience that bridges the best of both worlds. When I shared the initial track idea with Egbert during one of our sessions, he instantly loved it and provided some refreshing input. It was during that session that we recorded the vocal line “Open Your Mind,“ which features my own vocals with Egbert’s next level vocoder-y processing. It’s funny, but not surprising, that both Egbert and Adam Beyer mentioned that the track reminded them of the DK8 classic ’Murder Was The Bass.’ Adam described it as ’super funky, gritty, uplifting - it’s got it all! That groove is amazing. I love the DK8 hoover vibes, always very close to my heart :D’ - and I couldn’t agree more! Perfecting the production, mix, and master for ’OPEN YOUR MIND’ was quite a challenge. The heavily distorted and gritty open bass lead synth required meticulous attention, but it was an incredibly fun process. After months of road testing and fine-tuning, I am beyond excited with the final result. I’ve had a blast playing this track not only in my HI-LO sets but also in several ‘mainstage’ sets as Oliver Heldens. Witnessing the crowds go wild to this track has been an absolute joy!
