Washington D.C.’s Bacchae (pronounced Bock·Eye) combine elements of punk, new wave, surf rock, and riot grrrl to create their own brand of fierce yet catchy anthems that will stay stuck in your head for days. We can’t help but feel like the group is channeling the energy of bands like The B-52’s, The Pixies, Dead Kennedys, and Bikini Kill, just to name a few. Vocalist Katie swings wildly between soft and sweet to almost frighteningly maniacal, all the while commanding your attention and keeping you wondering what’s coming next. Guitarist Andrew’s unconventional guitar lines provide the perfect counterpoint to Katie’s catchy melodies. Bacchae’s rhythm section, Rena (bass) and Eileen (drums), lay a rock solid foundation that glues it all together.
Their latest record, Pleasure Vision, is available now on Get Better Records and at
