Over the Hedge - 046

Powerhouse Animation really enjoyed creating animated versions of Michael Fry and T Lewis’s syndicated comic strip, Over the Hedge. It was nice to see the strip animated in the style of the comic strip. As with our other projects working with the fine folks at Ringtales, Powerhouse would receive notes and the original comic strip, then we would use Flash to create an animated versions of the script that tried to be faithful to the original cartoon. Michael Fry and T. Lewis’ Over the Hedge is a prime candidate for traditionally animated web episodes. Though we were preceded by the DreamWorks film, it was a fun challenge to refocus some animation on the original strip. Over the Hedge is a character driven comic that tells the story of a raccoon, a turtle, a squirrel, and their friends who come to terms with their woodlands being taken over by suburbia, trying to survive the increasing flow of humanity and technology while becoming enticed by it at the same time.
