“Afrofuturism to me is about asking questions like, ’what if?’ or ’what could be?’...And then knowing that those dreams and desires are possible.“ Tourmaline’s work involves deep research into under-acknowledged and underrepresented histories, particularly those that center queer and trans historical figures of color in 19th- and 20th-century New York, from Seneca Village to Stonewall.
