Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United 2004-05 (Mourinho’s first game)

Finishing runners-up in the league and reaching the semi-finals of Europe’s top competition the season before had not been enough to save Claudio Ranieri’s job as Chelsea manager. It was trophies that the club wanted and so Jose Mourinho was drafted in as the Italian’s replacement. His first outing was against Manchester United, a team that had not lost on the opening day of the season for eight years. Alan Parry and Andy Townsend commentate.
